I think this note is important and am asking you to pass this along to your friends who live in the Canandaigua area. Yesterday evening (Friday 8-28-09) about 4:30 or so there was a knock at my door (for those of you who might not remember I live near Cheshire on Wells Curtice Road). At first I thought the man was a delivery guy so I opened the door (but not the screen door). It was a white guy – late 20s early 30s with strawberry blond hair. He had on a worn, dark blue golf shirt that was monogramed with the Time Warner logo. He also had one of those blue tooth ear things in. He pointed to the logo on his shirt and said “with time warner” and he had this long pad of paper — it looked like an old spread sheed. He started flipping through and asking me random questions about our cable service. Luckily my dog was right at the door trying to get out. I told him I didn’t know what he was talking about and that I was on the phone and had to go. He wanted to hand me a list of cable channels but I said no thanks (it was just a xeroxed sheet and did not look official) and shut the door. He drove off (thank GOD) in a small kind of sports car that was royal blue – not sure what kind exactly but it was not marked with the Time Warner logo in any way. After he left, I called the police and reported the incident but the more I think about it the more I was really frightened. No one else was home and I can’t help but wonder what would have happened if the dog had not been there trying to get at him.
I am trying to communicate this to Time Warner as well. I just know that whenever one of those guys have come to my door in the past they are in a van, in uniform and usually have lap tops and other high-tech equipment not a worn out pad of spread sheet paper….
So… please, please remind yourself and your children to be extra careful opening the door to a stranger. I had my guard down yesterday and I really believe that I could have been in some sort of danger. Sorry to sound an alarm but I don’t want this guy to try this with anyone else….!

Suzette
